Calatheas, more commonly known as 'Prayer Plants', have gained popularity through their unusual habit of moving throughout the day. As the sun comes out, the leaves 'bow' to soak up the rays before standing back up at night time. These make great plants for beginners, often quickly reacting when they are unhappy. Equally, they quickly perk up again once happy.

The Calathea Network is one of the most unusual Calatheas available. Its mosaic pattern makes the foliage look like a piece of artwork.

Light: Indirect sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. These plants will appreciate a bright room, although can also tolerate moderately lit rooms as well.

Watering: Allow top soil to dry out before watering again to prevent over-saturation and root rot. Water less often during late autumn and winter months. The Calathea Network can be fussy over water quality, so rain water or distilled water is preferred.

Soil: Well draining soil. Two parts peat-fred soil, one part perlite.

Temperature: Happy between temperatures of 18°c to 30°c, although can tolerate temperatures as low as 15°c.

Repotting: Repot every 12 to 18 months. Increase pot size by 2cm to encourage plant growth.

Plant Care Level: Beginner
