Alocasias are becoming increasingly popular, with their dramatic broad leaves coming in all shapes and sizes. The Alocasia Frydek is highly sought after - with gorgeous soft velvety leaves.
Light: Alocasias prefer bright and indirect sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can scorch their leaves. Rooms that do not receive sufficient enough indirect light may stunt growth or even cause damage to your plant.
Watering: Watering little and often is best for Alocasias. They prefer moist soil, so you don’t want the soil to dry out completely.
Soil: Ideal potting mixture will be one part perlite/coarse potting sand, one part peat-free compost.
Temperature: Alocasias will like being kept at at least room temperature, although can withstand temperatures as low as 15°c, and as high as 26°c. Stand on a pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently.
Repotting: Repot your Alocasia every 12 to 24 months to refresh the nutrients in its soil, increasing the pot size by 2cm if you want to encourage growth.
