Alocasias are becoming increasingly popular, with their dramatic broad leaves coming in all shapes and sizes. The Alocasia 'Stingray' has its nickname from its uniquely shaped foliage, sitting atop its long, far-reaching stems.
Light: Bright indirect sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. Rooms that do not receive sufficient enough indirect light may also stunt growth or even cause damage to the plant.
Watering: Different environments can mean different watering times. Please allow top of soil to dry before watering to prevent root rot.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Ideal potting mixture will be one part perlite/coarse potting sand, one part peat-free soil.
Temperature: Alocasias will like being kept at at least room temperature, although can withstand temperatures as low as 15°c, and as high as 26°c.
Repotting: Repot your Alocasia every 12 to 24 months to refresh the nutrients in its soil, increasing the pot size by 2cm if you want to encourage growth.
