'Wandering Dude' Tradescantia Nanouk

Tradescantias, more modernly known as the 'Wandering Dude' have been popular for decades. Some botanists suggest that it has earned its name by being incredibly easy to propagate; people would often gift cuttings to friends and family so it was said that the plant would 'wander' from house to house. Often with different variations of its gorgeous pink and green foliage, there's no wonder (pardon the pun) why this plant has been so popular for so long.

Light: Avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves can scorch. Tradescantias do, however, give more rapid growth if they are placed in a bright room.

Watering: Water as soon as the top soil looks dry. Roughly ever 7 to 14 days depending on household conditions.

Soil: Well-draining potting soil. 2 parts peat-free compost, 1 part perlite.

Temperature: Very tolerant of most temperatures. Anywhere upwards 13°c will be fine.

Repotting: Only repot once your Dude has become rootbound to its pot. Roughly once every 18-24 months.

Plant Care Level: Beginner
